Pre health students shadow clinicians across Bangkok public hospitals and community health clinics, comparing Thai and Western models of care and observing how culture shapes patient communication. Students consistently report gaining field knowledge they could not have gained at home, and a clearer sense of how their strengths map to a health career.

A collaborative healthcare program in Khon Kaen and the surrounding Isaan region, pairing Australian nursing students with Thai counterparts in hospital and community health settings, including a health promoting hospital and local village outreach. Khon Kaen, Isaan

Focused on Thai pharmacy practice, the interaction between Western pharmaceuticals and traditional Thai medicine, and how medicines reach patients through a universal coverage system. Bangkok and Chiang Mai
Flinders University, Speech Pathology
Australian speech pathology students design and deliver therapy plans for multilingual clients alongside Thai allied health professionals, social workers, nurses and interpreters, providing specialist therapy to children who would not otherwise receive it. Bangkok

Combining hospital and clinic site visits in Thailand and Vietnam with service learning, built to give allied health and nursing students a comparative view of healthcare delivery and health equity in a middle income country. Students rated the program highly on academic value and personal growth, with one describing it as the trip of a lifetime.

Students meet anti trafficking NGOs, shelters, government agencies and frontline advocates to build a systems level understanding of trafficking, its root causes in poverty and migration, and how Thai legal and social responses differ from Western models. University of Pennsylvania, Living Deliberately: Monks, Saints and the Contemplative Life
A Penn Global Seminar running from late December into early January, with 13 students and two faculty. Students study monastic and contemplative traditions in practice rather than only on the page, through lectures on local religious history, guided visits to temples, formal vipassana meditation. Students leave with a comparative understanding of religious pluralism in a Buddhist majority society and direct experience of the contemplative disciplines they had only read about.
University of Southern California, Annenberg, Social Change and Communication
The Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. Communication and media studies students examined how Thai advocacy organisations, media outlets and social enterprises use storytelling, campaigning and digital platforms to shift public opinion, then compared that with practice at home.
University of Oregon, NGOs in Southeast Asia
examining how NGOs operate in the region: funding models, community relationships, and the gap between international development theory and daily practice. Students worked directly with Thai organisations rather than observing from a distance. Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Siem Reap, Phnom Pehn
Furman University, Deference and Democracy
Examining Thai political culture, hierarchy and the concept of deference alongside democratic institutions and civil society, giving political science students a comparative case that unsettles Western assumptions about how democracies function. Bangkok, Mae Sot, Chiang Mai
Arizona State University, Mindfulness in Thailand
Treating contemplative practice as a subject of study rather than a wellness add on. Students take part in guided meditation and an overnight stay at a retreat centre, walk to the jungle temple of Wat Palad, study temples and the old city, and attend yoga sessions, all framed by Thai cultural values training. The design lets students consider mindfulness both as a living Thai religious tradition and as a practice exported into Western psychology and wellbeing industries
Summer in Thailand at Mahidol University International College
A four week summer session, students take one of two classes.
Support matches our faculty led model; health and safety workshop, Thai cultural values workshop structured reflection, 24 hour emergency support and a dedicated Thai and Western staff team.
Excursions are woven throughout the program to support academics, including a historical Bangkok tour, Chiang Mai and street food.
Northeastern University,Finding Refuge in the World and the Self: Asylum and Refugee Law and the History and Practice of Mindfulness Meditation
Connecting Buddhist thought and practice with the lived reality of displacement and refugee support in Thailand, combining monastery and temple study with visits to organisations working with displaced communities.
University of Maryland, College Park, Gender and Women's Studies
A faculty led program examining gender, sexuality and social power in a Thai context: the position of women in Thai Buddhism, LGBTQ visibility and legal recognition, migrant and informal labour, and the gendered dimensions of trafficking.
University of California-Davis, Teaching in Thailand
Students teach English daily under Thai mentor teachers and also run teacher training workshops, sharing methods with Thai colleagues so the benefit runs both ways. It is our clearest example of extended service learning: long enough to build real classroom competence and lasting relationships with partner schools. Students describe it as the experience that confirmed teaching as their career.
Semester in Thailand at Mahidol University International College
A full semester at MUIC our flagship partnership, with more than 600 Thailand Experiences Alumni. Students enroll in a wide range of classes including Thai Language and Culture, business, marketing, anthropology, communications and more.

Previous Programs-Engineering, Agriculture and STEM
University of Florida, Beekeeping and Agriculture
Entomology students study Thai apiculture and smallholder agriculture at sites across Thailand, comparing tropical bee species, pest and disease pressures, and hive management practices with what they know from Florida. The program gives students field research exposure in an agricultural system unlike anything in the United States.
Engineering and Innovation in Bangkok
Anchored at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Thailand’s leading engineering university and an institution with unusually strong industry links. Students attend guest lectures from KMITL engineering faculty, with lecture subjects adjusted to the sending course, and visit KMITL Research and Innovation Services, which develops technology for manufacturing, logistics and biomedical problems and runs incubation and technology transfer. A day at the National Science and Technology Development Agency outside Bangkok gives students a view of national research priorities, and manufacturing and infrastructure site visits on the Eastern Seaboard show how those priorities look on a factory floor. A short paired design brief with Thai engineering students runs across the program and is presented on the final day. The academic case is comparative: students see engineering practice in a middle income industrial economy, where constraint driven design, maintenance culture, informal problem solving and cost pressure shape decisions differently from a United States or Australian setting. Suits mechanical, electrical, industrial, civil and computer engineering, and works as a first international experience for a cohort that rarely travels
Ohio University, Wildlife in Thailand
A field program,students move through a deliberate sequence of wildlife settings: urban bird watching in Bangkok, the Wildlife Friends Foundation rescue centre in Phetchaburi with its gibbon forest and rescued elephants and tigers, then several days for pre dawn observation in Kaeng Krachan National Park, covering bird and insect diversity. Daily observation and journaling build real field method skills, while the rescue centre visits give students a concrete basis for discussing ethical wildlife tourism, conservation funding and human wildlife conflict.
Marine Science and Coastal Ecology Phuket and the Andaman Sea
A field based program on the Andaman coast, built around coral reef health, mangrove and seagrass systems, sea turtle and marine megafauna conservation, and the pressure that mass tourism, wastewater and plastics place on all of them. Students receive method training in transect and quadrat survey work, collect and log data daily, and finish with a short group analysis rather than a trip report. Columbia College, Sourcing and Supply Chains
Spanning Thailand and Vietnam. Fashion students trace garment production from Isaan silk weaving villages and Chiang Mai artisan workshops through Bangkok manufacturing and retail, examining ethical sourcing, fair trade and the tension between craft tradition and commercial scale.

program tracing energy from generation to end use in a country that has committed to carbon neutrality by 2050 while remaining dependent on imported gas. Students look at utility scale solar and floating solar, biomass and biogas drawn from sugarcane, cassava and rice residues in Isaan, rooftop and community scale solar, the electric vehicle and battery supply chain now being built with Chinese investment, and the grid and regulatory constraints that decide what actually gets connected.
