At Nong Han Community Health Center in Chiang Mai, exchange students have the opportunity to explore Thailand’s community-based healthcare and rehabilitation system while comparing it with healthcare practices in the United States.
For physical therapist Fon Yanan Phanpanya, the greatest motivation is seeing patients recover physically and emotionally. This patient-centered approach is at the heart of the center’s mission to provide accessible rehabilitation services close to home.
The program also creates valuable knowledge exchange. Students learn about traditional Thai rehabilitation and community healthcare, while local healthcare professionals gain fresh perspectives from international students. Through sharing experiences and ideas, both sides can discover new ways to improve patient care and healthcare education.
